Vocational teacher at Ida-Virumaa Vocational School (2024-); . . . and Tallinn Polytechnic School (2018-2022)

Since the 2024/2025 academic year, I have been working part-time as a vocational teacher at the Narva campus of the Ida-Virumaa Vocational School, where I primarily teach subjects related to multimedia and IT.

For five academic years, I worked as a vocational teacher at Tallinn Polytechnic School. During this time, I primarily taught subjects related to audiovisual media, such as sound and video technology, video technology and animation, filming, and editing. Throughout this period, I also served as the daily supervisor of the film club and as the main organizer of the film festival. Additionally, I acted as an interim student activities coordinator for a couple of years.

Read more about the projects I worked on during my time as a vocational teacher in the section Vocational Teacher's Development Portfolio.

Main organizer at Tallinna Polytechnic School film festival (2016-2022)

I started as the main organizer of the Tallinn Polytechnic Film Festival in 2016. The last film festival I organized as the main organizer took place in 2022 and was the sixth in a row. The sixth film festival culminated at the Artis cinema center, which was sold out for the first time. In addition, we set a new record for the number of short films submitted (67), making it the largest film festival for young people in Estonia. The TPT film festival is a short film competition open to students from vocational and general education schools, colleges, universities, and hobby schools. You can find out more about the TPT film festival at the event's from Facebook, from the film festival website and through media partners (ERR Menu, Kinoveeb, TV3 Play, Delfi TV).

My duties as the chief organizer were mainly to draw up the budget, schedule, and regulations for the new organizational year and to find a new organizational team; to find a production team for live broadcasts and create on-air graphics based on the overall design of the film festival; communicating with media partners and the main sponsor; finding a team of judges and coordinating their work; and compiling an annual report for the management of the educational institution at the end of the event.

Director of live broadcasts for Prin(t)ouch 2020

From the newly completed Tallinn Polytechnic television studio, we broadcast live coverage of the Prin(t)ouch 2020 competition, which was held virtually due to the COVID-19 situation. On the opening day, the contestants were given instructions for their tasks, and there was a meeting between the instructors and contestants. On the second day, the competition ended with the winners being announced and the judges sharing their comments on the works. During the first live broadcast, I also provided technical support for the open meeting.

Prin(t)ouch brings together three sub-competitions: the graphic design competition Trükis+, the competition for printers Imprint, and the photography competition Tallinn 144K.

Developer of the Tallinn Polytechnic School TV studio

In the second half of 2019, a plan was made to build a television studio at Tallinn Polytechnic for both teaching and live broadcasts of various events. The main construction took place in the summer of 2020, preceded by a major planning process. I also had to research and decide what broadcasting equipment to purchase and what the studio should look like in terms of design. In total, we built and planned the studio in five different stages. It is safe to say that the construction and planning of both the television studio and the outdoor broadcasting station provided me with a wealth of new technical experience.
Today, the television studio is complete and the first live broadcasts have gone on air. The first live broadcast was TPT TV 14th live broadcast, which was carried out by my audio and video technology students as their final project.

Live broadcast planner and director for multiple broadcasts

In connection with my work at Tallinn Polytechnic and as a film club instructor, I have been the content and technical planner for several live broadcasts. In addition to planning, I have also created on-air graphics (program titles, name titles, end titles) for live broadcasts using Adobe Premiere Pro. My largest projects with active young people have included, for example live broadcast of the EKFI virtual conference with video bridge construction to Greece, vocational Education Conference “Is the turning point here?” peaaegu, et kuue ja pooletunnine ülekanne, transcripts of the Drakadeemia creative writing conferenceTPT TV live broadcasts but also Tallinn Polytechnic graduation ceremonies both from the school hall and the Estonian National Library.

LIIPRID.ee reporter/camera operator/editor

Different video stories LIIPRID.ee website on the restoration of the Haapsalu railway. Most recently, at the end of 2020, I interviewed Rein Riisalu, director of the Läänemaa Railway Program Foundation. The topics of conversation included the design work for the Turba-Ellamaa and Ellamaa-Risti railway sections, as well as the outdoor exhibits at the railway and communications museum operating at Haapsalu railway station. The portal began in 2013 with a series of programs called "Rails That Could Talk." I created both the portal and the series purely out of interest in the subject and television, i.e., as a hobby.

“Liiprid, mis võiksid kõnelda” director/producer/camera operator/editor (2013–2019)

As mentioned earlier, the LIIPRID.ee portal originated from a series of programs called "Liiprid, mis võiksid rääkida" (Rails That Could Talk), which began in 2013. The series was about the restoration of the Haapsalu railway and its necessity. The day before the elections, Tallinn Television aired a special episode of "Liiprid, mis võiksid rääkida" with the subtitle "Elections 2017." In connection with the elections, we asked all political parties and electoral alliances for their opinion on the restoration of the Haapsalu railway. What will happen to the restoration of the Haapsalu railway after the completion of the Riisipere-Turba section? Political parties and electoral alliances running in Haapsalu and Lääne County are asked for their opinion.

“Suur Võidusõit 2018” | host/editor

The next TV project was the first and last one where I was the host, but it was a great experience. I didn't have much time to prepare for the shoot, because I only found out about it a few days before filming. The same program also featured video story on Tallinn Television's "Summer Studio" program.

In 2018, Estonia's largest car and motorcycle race, the Estonian Grand Prix, celebrated its anniversary! The 2018 Grand Prix took place at the Auto24 racetrack near Pärnu. The fifth edition of the competition also marked the 60th anniversary of the completion of the first Estonia formula car. Participants came from seven countries and more than 160 racing cars took part in the race.

Virtsu Sea Days 2016/2017 | camera operator/editor

In the following aftermovie of the 2017 Virtsu Maritime Day, a longer video was also made of the event video story. Virtsu Maritime Day was also visited in 2016, and the aftermovie can be seen here. SIIT.

Virtsu Maritime Day is a traditional summer event featuring a fair, concerts, exhibitions, boat trips, and dancing. Throughout the day, the fair offers a variety of goods, from handicrafts to home-brewed beer, as well as sports competitions and entertainment provided by performers. Delicious cakes and pastries can be sampled at several cafés, with the opportunity to choose the best pastry of the day. Food and drink are available at many buffets. There are interesting activities in the manor barn and stable, in the school hall, and on retro walks around Virtsu's sights.
